Below is the testimonial of his 13 week journey, how this affected his life and how he overcame the challenges.

What were your expectations going into the 13 weeks and what were your motivations?

I wanted to be in good shape and look healthier but didn’t know where or how to begin.

I used to hit the gym around once a week, do whatever I want without any program. I didn’t see any change for years. On one occasion, I was introduced to UP and, seeing the incredible results of my friend after receiving training at UP, I decided to give it a try and start my own transformation journey.

Can you tell me how you were feeling both physically and mentally before starting the 13 weeks?

Physically, I feel much stronger and the posture is much better. I Still remember when I started training, the weight I lifted for working set is the weight I am using for warm up now. Elaine know how to select the correct weight for me and I can see my progression.

Mentally, I challenge myself to lift heavier weight. Elaine always pushes myself beyond my limit. I am surprised at how heavy the weight I can lift now.

What was your diet and lifestyle like before you started the 13 weeks?

I used to eat out a lot, drink beer with friends, eat lots of carbs etc. Basically I don’t cook at all. When my 13 weeks started, I understand diet is the key of successful transformation. I then started to prepare my own meal. Lucky that my trainer provided lots of recommendation to me on how to cook a tasty meal with no carbs, no need to eat boring boiled chicken breast. I can eat pan-fried salmon, fritters and meatball.

I used to use mobile or play tv game before bed. stay up late late even I’ve got nothing to do. But when I start training, I really feel I need to take a proper rest. Rest is an important part too. I sleep well and get up with full of energy. everything become more regular.

How did your diet and lifestyle change when you started the 13 weeks?

I eat more whole food. Prepare all my meals. I know what I am going to eat. I know what are the ingredients, how many grams of each stuff and calories. I am sure everything I put into my mouth is in good quality, including the oil. I understand processed food is not beneficial to my body. More importantly, healthy food is not only boiled chicken breast and broccoli which is the concept i used to have. My trainer provide lots of idea to me, I can eat meatball, salmon and fritters. It’s delicious too.

My lifestyle become more regular when the 13 weeks started. Proper rest is the key to successful transformation too. After training, I really feel I need a proper rest to recover. I didn’t drink with friends at all since i don’t want to waste all my hard work. I understand how many calories in 1g alcohol and that is no use for my body.

What effect did this have on your health, performance, lifestyle and energy inside and outside the gym?

Apparently my health improved. I used to get sick easily. I didn’t feel sick at all in the whole 13 weeks. It is probably due to the fact that I have proper rest and diet. I feel my body much stronger and full of energy when I hit the gym every time. I am invincible!

How did you find the training and did it fit around your busy lifestyle?

Everything is about time management. I work on shift and I need to take care of family, spend more than an hour to commute every day. There can be millions of reasons for not working out. However , workout is important to me, it should be part of my daily life. I will just put it into my schedule and go.

What were your results like after the 13 weeks?

My body weight didn’t drop too much which is what I want, only 3kg. I’ve got the 6-pack which is my target. My life style changed, I learnt how to cook tasty and healthy food. Nice body shape and healthy lifestyle, what can I ask for more?

What were the most important things you learned during your 13 weeks and what really worked for you in helping you make your transformation?

I think the mindset is the most important thing to learn. Weight training is not only about lifting weight, no matter how heavy the weight is, i should focus on the right muscle contraction. If I only spend time in gym to lift weight, no programming, not focus on any muscle contraction, my result won’t be the same. Trainer attitude is very important too. Training at UP is hard, but my trainer keep encouraging me, showing me my progression. I can see I’m getting stronger and stronger which makes me want to push myself more.

How has doing this transformation changed you and do you think it will benefit you going forward?

Definitely. My lifestyle has changed positively. Workout not only is for good looking but it is also part of my daily life. It makes me feel good and energetic. I can enjoy my life with a healthy body.
